On Saturday, January 26th 2013, Las Vegas Weekly presented the Big Dog’s Winterfest Beer and Music Festival, held at the Big Dog’s Brewery Draft House off Rancho and Craig Roads in Las Vegas, Nevada. We meet Sergio at the Lake Las Vegas BeerFest way back in November, and during a spotlight piece we did on them, he casually mentioned the Winterfest event. Ever since then, we couldn’t wait for it! And it certainly was worth the wait as the craft beer festival was a tremendous success with hundreds in attendance, despite the rainy Las Vegas weather.

The event was also sponsored by PetChing with raffle proceeds benefiting the Animal Foundation. In addition to the live music all day and night with Big Dog’s acoustic All-Star Jam (they were amazing!), the craft beer event featured more than 50 brews from around the region and around the world and featured the tapping of Dog Gone Saison, a Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Plus, the food did not disappoint either as no one could resist Chef Sergio’s canjun gumbo or the pozole!

With free admission, how can you go wrong? Big Dog’s set up a numbered system where you would purchase drink tokens, choose whatever beer you wanted to drink from a long list of craft beer selections, then decide what kind of pour you wanted (1/4, 1/2, or full), all of which corresponded to a specific amount of tokens. Here’s a list of the craft beers featured:

I mean really – read that beer list over again. It’s a craft beer tasters paradise! In addition, the guys over at No Limit Brewing poured complimentary tasters of their newest craft beer selections including “The Nooner”, “Closer”, “Toffee Coconut Brown” and “Berry Basil Wheat!”. These guys are up-and-coming. We really liked their beers and hope to feature them in an upcoming “I Love Beer” show. By the way, did we mention the after party, which went from 9:00pm to who-knows-when? Just a terrific event from start to finish. We loved doing the “I Love Beer” show live from the location, and can’t wait for the next Big Dog extravaganza!
