When you want a German-type feel to Las Vegas, you go to the Hofbräuhaus. When you want to party hard in Las Vegas, you go to the Hard Rock. But what many people don’t know is there’s a gem situated right by these two places that you need to go to if you want to drink some awesome craft beers – the Firkin on Paradise, which we recently discovered and knew immediately that it would make a great place to host another “I Love Beer” Show. We meet up with managing partner Anthony Sharron, who introduced us to a variety of great tasting craft beers such as Magic Hat’s #9 – tbe “Not Quite Pale Ale”, Innis and Gunn’s Original, and Firestone Brewing’s Double Jack IPA.. Put three beers together with a great beer drinking location and you have the formula for a fun craft beer tasting session!

The Magic Hat Brewery is located in South Burlington, Vermont and is about as far from Vegas as you can get, but that won’t stop us from locating excellent craft beer selections! The “#9” we tasted is a fruity type beer with a slight apricot flavoring. Why #9? No one exactly knows, which certainly adds to the mystique of this dry, crisp, and refreshing brew with a 5.1% alcohol content. Perhaps the unique flavor is due to Magic Hat’s 150 year old strain of top fermenting English yeast. A “must try”!

If you haven’t tasted the Innis and Gunn Original yet, we can’t stress this enough: Find it! Brewed in Edinburgh, Scotland, Innis and Gunn Oak Aged Beer is absolutely fantastic. Its golden honey color gives way to a malt, vanilla, and toffee taste with a creamy, soothing oak finish with a fruity and mellow hint of vanilla. Its lengthy 77-day maturation and oak aged process results in a 6.6% alcohol, beautifully colored, and easy to drink beer that we highly recommend.

We finished off the show by sampling the Firestone Double Jack IPA, which is a MUST for all the “hopheads” out there. Registering at 9.5% alcohol, this award winning brew was nothing short of delicious. Located in Paso Robles, California, Firestone has truly put out a real winner with their first ever Imperial IPA. The aggressive beer featured a strong malty flavor that interacts perfectly with the hop bitterness, along with tangerine, grapefruit, and juicy fruit aromas.

You need to make it a point and visit the Firkin on Paradise to taste these beers for yourself. Plus they have a full kitchen which pairs nicely with the craft beer on tap, along with fantastic bartenders and a knowledgeable staff. There’s a lot going on at the Firkin, including their upcoming Superbowl Party where they are partnering with Casa DiAmore to create an event that’s sure to be a great time, regardless of who your favorite football team is. Make sure you keep up to date on what’s happening at the Firkin by visiting and “liking” their Facebook fan page.

We hope to do many more shows from the Firkin, so if you’d like to stay up to date on what’s happening with the “I Love Beer” show including future show locations and showtimes, you can simply text “BEER” to 69302 to subscribe to our free mobile update service, or if haven’t done so already, “Like Us on Facebook” to become a fan of the show as well.
