Season 2, Episode 1: The new season of “I Love Beer” shows debuted on August 4th, 2014 over at Banger Brewing in Downtown Las Vegas. We tasted a variety of craft beers that tasted great and learned from Banger Brewing Co-Owner Nick Fischella a few reasons why Banger Brewing is a must-attend destination for those visiting Downtown Las Vegas, whether they are craft beer drinkers or not.

In addition, Kim Schaefer, the Director of Communications of the www.DowntownProject.com, joined us to tell us all about how Zappos’ very own Tony Hsieh’s vision of revitalizing Las Vegas is going and where it is heading as well. With the help and funding of the DowntownProject, Craft beer lives in Downtown Las Vegas and Banger Brewing is doing their part ot help make a name for Downtown Las Vegas craft beer scene.

We’ve been fans of Banger Brewing for quite some time now, ever since they began brewing their delicious craft beer in their basements! But one thing you have to give them credit for, and that is they love to push the envelope of creativity when it comes to their craft beer brewing style – and it shows! The beers we sampled where outstanding, especially the Sandia, an easy drinking Hefeweizen craft beer having an explosion of watermelon on the finish (and 10423291_759173960808095_5998574696019931121_n[1]the start too!) at just 4.6% alcohol. And although we didn’t try it on the show, we know from experience to recommend their El Heffe Jalepeno Hefeweizen as one of the most unique tasting beers you’ll find anywhere in Las Vegas. Visit Banger Brewing, ask for it by name, taste it, and thank us later!

In addition to the events and activities Banger Brewing hosts and promotes on a weekly basis, there’s a lot of buzz and movement going on in Downtown Las Vegas. As mentioned before, we were lucky enough to have Kim Schaefer on the show to give us a little insight into the overall project and its goals in general. To quote from the DownTownProject.com website:

The goal and purpose of the Downtown Project is to help make downtown Vegas a place of Inspiration, Entrepreneurial Energy, Creativity, Innovation, Upward Mobility, and Discovery, through the 3 C’s of Collisions, Co-learning, and Connectedness in a long-term, sustainable way.

The organization has allocated $350 million to aid in the revitalization of Downtown Las Vegas and is investing $200 million in real estate, $50 million in small businesses, $50 million in education, and $50 million in tech startups through the VegasTech Fund.

That’s pretty impressive. The Downtown Project in general is the brainchild of Zappos founder Tony Hsieh and its success has been nothing short of amazing so far – Especially when they’re to partly thank for bringing Banger Brewing to the forefront of the Las Vegas craft beer scene in the first place through a variety of funding efforts.

Las Vegas is obviously known for its great gaming and as an amazing destination for business conventions. Over the past few years however, it’s also turned into a great place for microbrewing and the entire craft beer scene. Banger Brewing is proving that to be true, and together with the efforts of the Downtown Project, Downtown Las Vegas is also becoming a destination for great entertainment and spirits. We at the “I Love Beer” Show were lucky to experience it all with this season’s opening show!

We have more shows like this planned for the rest of the season, so don’t forget to text BEERSHOW to 95577 for show updates and “like” us at our Facebook Fanpage here.
